Who We Are

Sports Academy Foundation’s Board of Directors guides the growth and development of programs to meet the Foundation’s mission. The nine-member board is responsible for fulfilling the duties of four committees: Executive, Finance and Audit, Governance and Nominating, and Program Committee. Through the work of the Board and its Committees, the Board sets policies and the strategic direction for the Foundation.



As Founder and CEO of Sports Academy, Chad is continuing to express his passion for philanthropy with the development of Sports Academy Foundation. Professionally, Chad has a long track record of entrepreneurial success as an investor, director, advisor and executive mentor. He is the Founder, Director and former President/COO of SCHC, Inc., an international specialty finance company. Philanthropically, Chad serves as a Director and Vice President of Soaring with Eagles Foundation, a leadership development program that focuses on self-discovery of core values, strengths, and purposeful passion for selected students at Kansas State University Staley School of Leadership Studies; Director for the Special Forces Charitable Trust, whose primary mission is to provide meaningful financial support, programs and services to the U.S. Army Special Forces; Co-Founder of the Snyder Leadership Legacy Fellows Program, whose mission is to develop young leaders through the transformational process developed and utilized by Coach Bill Snyder at Kansas State University. Chad was a Team Captain and Team Leader on Coach Snyder’s 1989 football team.



Art is the founder and executive director of the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs at Kansas State University–recognized as one of the most military-inclusive public research universities. Over the past 10 years he has conducted research and evidence-based practice in serving veterans to transition to higher education, the workforce and to reintegrate back into civil society after their service. He is a retired U.S. Army officer with combat leadership experience, a doctoral candidate in adult education and a consultant to corporate, government, community-based and non-profit organizations involved in military and veterans affairs. His white paper, “Looking Critically at Reintegration of Post-9/11 Era Veterans”(August, 2013) was lauded by the former Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a myriad of scholars and business executives for its definitive description of the challenges of transition and reintegration. He has recently co-developed an enhanced program for the U.S. Army’s transition assistance program (SFL-TAP) and is a pioneer in the use of performing arts as a catalyst for social change regarding Post 9-11 era veteran’s reintegration.



Christina is a former Olympic level beach volleyball player. She competed 6 years on the FIVB tour as the National Team of Greece. In 2012 Christina returned to Los Angeles and became a sought after lifestyle coach to the stars, curating adventures locally and around the world to discover ways of living at your best. Christina is a successful entrepreneur. Her company, Zoi Zen, has attracted partnerships of prominent wellness leaders, widening her following and deepening her experiences. As an expert traveler and athlete, Christina now advises for various travel and healthy lifestyle companies enhancing their holistic perspectives. She has a BA in psychology from Pepperdine University and holds defensive records in their elite volleyball program.



Jon is an experienced operating executive with deep knowledge in international retailing, wholesaling, business consulting and board-level leadership. He currently serves on the Board of Directors, Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee for iPourit, Inc. He is also intensely involved in community leadership endeavors as President of the Harbor View Dads (elementary school non-profit), Director of Soaring with Eagles Foundation (collegiate non-profit), Coordinator of Pilot Cup (school soccer) and Director of National Junior Basketball while coaching several youth basketball and soccer teams. Previously, Jon was on the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Audit Committee and Consultant for House of Busby, an international retailer and wholesaler operating in South Africa and Australia from 2010-13. Jon lived and worked in Johannesburg, South Africa from 1999-2008 as Chief Executive of the Department Stores Division of Edcon (Pty) Limited, Africa’s preeminent retailer. From 1985-98, he worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co in a series of jobs in finance, buying, planning and marketing including several senior positions. Jon is a Certified Public Accountant.



Francisco serves as General Counsel for Agassi Graf, the management company for Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf, and the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education. He is responsible for communications/media, marketing, government and legal affairs. Prior to joining Agassi Graf, he served as Senior Counsel at Southwest Gas Corporation, Special Counsel to the Chancellor of the Nevada System of Higher Education, and as a lawyer for the parent company of the Las Vegas NBC affiliate, KSNV Channel 3 and 16 other NBC affiliates. In May 2004, he graduated from The University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law with a Juris Doctor as well as from The University of Arizona Eller Graduate College of Management with an MBA. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and accounting from The University of Arizona where he was elected to serve as Student Body President representing 35,000 students. Francisco is a member of the Nevada, California, and Arizona Bars. He also serves as a member of the board of directors for Sletten Construction Company, the Las Vegas Bowl, the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, the University of Arizona James E. Rogers Law College Board of Visitors, and the Marshall Foundation in Tucson, Arizona.



Carrie is a founding partner of Cohen Begun & Deck, LLP, a law firm based in Westlake Village, California, specializing in commercial real estate development, land use and project finance. She was previously senior counsel at the multinational law firm of Alston & Bird, LLP, in the firm’s Real Estate Finance and Investment Group. While at Alston & Bird, Carrie served on the firm’s Pro-Bono Committee, where she helped organize the firm’s annual Day of Service and also co-chaired its annual Pro Bono Fair, which showcased the numerous charitable and non-profit organizations served by attorneys and staff of the firm. Carrie received her Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, where she was also a published author and served as Managing Editor of The Journal of the National Association of Administrative Law Judiciary (NAALJ) in 2003-2004. Carrie received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she majored in Business Economics and minored in English. Carrie is a member of the California State Bar and Los Angeles County Bar Association. Carrie’s husband Scott has taught special education for the past 15 years and is currently a resource specialist at Oak Park High School located in Oak Park, California. Carrie and Scott have two children, ages 5 and 7, who attend Oak Hills Elementary School.



Bob was a visionary who fought endlessly to empower individuals to reach their potential in life. He believed that if you provided the access, taught valuable tools, and created enough experiences to exercise new behaviors, then there were no limits to what could be achieved. Bob served many non-profit boards, but his pride and joy resided in endeavors that focused on young emerging leaders: Co-Founder Sports Academy Foundation, Co-Founder Snyder Leadership Legacy Fellows Program, and Soaring with Eagles Foundation. Sports Academy Foundation will continue to follow his passionate guiding light to provide programs that change the trajectory of lives.
